UPCOMING CELEB GUEST! – Jacob Hopkins of “TRUE BLOOD”
For Jacob Hopkins, acting is the family business. Born in Los Angeles, Jacob was discovered at the age of five when he accompanied his Dad, who is an actor, to a meeting with his agent. Taken with his blue eyes and easy charm, the agent asked “Who is this and does he want to act?” Within weeks of this encounter he was cast in his first role, as the charming and curious little boy Brian in the film, The Minis. Soon after, he booked the first of several national commercials including an ad for Kmart opposite the angelic Jaclyn Smith.
Following his early success, Jacob continued his foray into television and film. He next appeared on the hit CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother. His portrayal of Billy, a karate powerhouse, gave him the opportunity to act alongside fellow guest-stars Malin Akerman, Jason Lewis and Chris Kattan. Jacob has also ventured on to the big screen. His first feature film was Priest, which follows a priest who disobeys church law to track down the vampires who kidnapped his niece, Jacob had a small but memorable role opposite Paul Bettany and Stephen Moyer. He also lent his talents to Just a Little Heart Attack as the very smart son of Elizabeth Banks, who also directed the project. Created for the American Heart Association’s Go Red Campaign, the light-hearted film short tells the story of a mother who puts the needs of her family ahead of her own.
In an era where the Internet is increasingly being used as a broadcast medium, Jacob has showcased his acting prowess in two web series. He began seeing little green men when he was cast in RCVR. The science fiction series follows the adventures of his character Bobby, his sister Charlene and friend Tommy as they are caught in the middle of a 1970’s cover-up involving extraterrestrial activity. The series was honored as Best Drama Web Series at the 2012 International Academy of Web Television Awards. Jacob can also be seen in Supermoms, a live action/animation web series featuring four woman superheroes who share the common bond of motherhood and foiling their arch-enemy, Dr. DeConstructo. In his role as Jake, Jacob co-starred opposite Joey Lauren Adams.
Next up, Jacob, will soon return to the small screen in his breakthrough role on the upcoming fifth season of the hit HBO series True Blood. He has been tapped to play Alexander Drew, the youngest (looking) member of the Vampire Authority who turned at the age of nine. Jacob’s character is an impetuous vamp who likes to taunt those around him. Jacob will share the screen with fellow Authority chancellors Christopher Meloni, Peter Mensah, and Carolyn Hennesy as well as lead actors Alexander Skarsgard and his Priest co-star Stephen Moyer. He will make his debut on the June 17th episode.
Jacob’s versatility, talent and intelligence allow him to bring such wonderful characters to life. One of his fellow actors proclaims, “Jacob is one amazing and talented kid. A real pro.” He has established himself as a multi-dimensional actor who is sure to have a bright future in the industry.
Jacob resides in Los Angeles with his parents and older brother, Gerad. He is in the fourth grade and is a proud member of the Gifted and Talented Program at his school. He is an accomplished martial artist and currently holds a brown belt in Taekwondo. He has participated in a number of competitions and taken home many gold and silver medals. In his spare time, Jacob enjoys playing sports, reading, drawing, and spending time with family and friends.
